Dr. Stenhouse, more commonly known as "Tina," was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. She attended Howard University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1972, and a Master of Education degree in Student Personnel Administration in 1974.
Prior to completing the requirements for her M.Ed. degree, in 1973, Tina became a Recruitment Specialist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. This marked the beginning of an 8-year career in Federal Civil Service, which included work for three separate agencies, on both the east and west coasts, and the management of staffing services for a district of 3,500+ employees. In 1981, a strong entrepreneurial desire led Tina to leave the Internal Revenue Service, Los Angeles District office, and begin a direct sales business. Her business grew rapidly and steadily, through a network of coast-to-coast distributors, until family matters caused Tina to return home in 1983. She continued building her business, but missed the diversity of work issues she addressed on a daily basis as a human resources professional. From 1985 to 1991, Tina added the private sector to her bank of human resources practitioner experiences, working for a large regional bank, and a highly diversified, multi-national, privately held holding company.
In 1991, Tina returned to school on a full-time basis to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Management, at the State University of New York at Buffalo. While a student, she worked as a university instructor, and as a human resources and organizational behavior consultant for several Western New York companies. Upon completion of her Ph.D. program requirements, Tina was hired as a Human Resources Manager and Corporate Trainer at Moog Incorporated, a world-class manufacturer of precision control components and systems, and a company recognized in the inaugural edition of "The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America."
As a member of Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated, a public service sorority, for the past 33 years, Tina has held many elected offices. She twice chaired the local chapter's largest college scholarship fund raiser, and most recently served as Vice President of the Buffalo Alumnae Chapter for the 1999-2001 biennium. In addition to her community work through Delta, Tina has held several ministerial leadership roles at New Life Assembly of God where she has been an active member for 20 years. In Spring 2003, under the covering of her home church, Tina began a new ministry to women through a bi-weekly, small group Bible study, which takes place in her home. She presently serves on one local board of governance, two advisory boards, and she is the recipient of numerous academic honors and awards.
If asked, Tina would tell you that many of the paths she has taken in life were not of her choosing. Her experiences and accomplishments confirm Psalm 32:8: "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." (NIV)
Tina currently resides in Buffalo, New York.
