Maggie S. Wright, PhD, a resident of Hermitage, Tennessee, is a former resident of Williamsville, New York and a native of South Carolina. Dr. Wright received a Bachelor Degree from South Carolina State University in Social Science and a Masters in Counseling Education and PhD Degree in Educational Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
While a resident of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Wright was employed at the Buffalo Urban League, the Buffalo Board of Education, Eire Community College and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She has worked as a teacher, Director of Counseling Services, Counselor and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs. Her greatest contribution while at the Medical School was in student services and academic advisement. She was instrumental in establishing a variety of educational programs for students at all levels, including high school, college and post baccalaureate. As a result of her initiatives, several students gained entry and graduated from professional schools that otherwise would not have had the opportunity.
The State of New York and United University Professions Excellence Award, Dean's Award, national Association of minority Medical Educators, Sojourner Truth Award, Iota Phi Lambda, Zeta Beta Woman of the Year, Black Achievers and the Medgar Evers Award acknowledge Dr. Wright for outstanding service to the community and University.
Dr. Wright holds Life membership in the NAACP, where she chairs the ACT-SO program and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority as president of the Minerva Foundation for the past three years. She is chairperson of the Stewardship Committee at Priest Lake Presbyterian Church. She has three children, Brenda, Karen and Paul and three grandchildren, all residents of Nashville, Tennessee
