Mr. Ferguson was the owner of the Ferguson Beauty Supply Company on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, NY. He was born in Evergreen, Alabama, where he learned barbering at a very young age. He moved to Buffalo in the 1930s. He started a small business from his home on South Division Street in 1950 selling a product called "Super Groom" then opened his first business on Broadway and later on Jefferson. His business supplied salons in the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse area. He was a member of the NAACP and was 74 years of age at the time of his death on November 2, 1991. He is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
