Earl W. Littlejohn

Earl W. Littlejohn was a jazz musician who played with some of the top bands, including those of Louis Armstrong, George Clark and Elvin Shepherd. He was born in Pittsburgh and attended school there before moving to Buffalo, NY and establishing himself as a top bass player. He told friends that he had no forma musical education but learned to play bass when he was 14. Known professionally as "Sir Earl of Littlejohn", he also played for singer Billie Holiday and other blues and jazz stars and was associated with jazz musician Snuff Smith. In the Western New York area, he performed at the Anchor Bar, Bafo's, the Onyx club, Little Harlem and other nightspots.
He died on February 26, 1990.
