Curlane Jones-Brown, affectionately known as ââ?¬Å?Dr. Curlyââ?¬ was born in 1948, the 7th of 10 children. Her family moved to Buffalo, N.Y. in the early 1950ââ?¬â?¢s. She is the devoted wife of Dr. Lloyd Brown and the mother of five; Bonifus, Mwikali, Kimisha, Lloyd Jr. and Christina. ââ?¬Å?Dr. Curlyââ?¬ attended the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she received a Bachelorââ?¬â?¢s degree in Biology, and a Masterââ?¬â?¢s Degree in Natural Sciences from the SUNY Roswell Division. In 1982 she left her position as a Science teacher at City Honors High School and entered the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and completed her medical degree in 1987, and a residency in Psychiatry in 1992. She has had hospital privileges at the Erie County Medical Center, Bry-Lin Hospital, the Rochester and Buffalo Psychiatric Centers. She is presently a staff psychiatrist at the Buffalo Psychiatric Center, and in addition has a private practice in Buffalo.

Among her numerous accomplishments, Dr. Curly, is the author of three books; ââ?¬Å?Survival Manual for African American Youth and Other at Risk Youthââ?¬, ââ?¬Å?Dr. Curlyââ?¬â?¢s Ten Health Empowering Steps into the 21st Centuryââ?¬ and ââ?¬Å?S.E.N.S.E.S. for Young Womenââ?¬. She also has a book of short stories called, ââ?¬Å?An Incident in Amherstââ?¬. Dr Curly is an active member of Zion Dominion Global Ministries. The Drs. Brown are a dynamic team, with Dr. Curly and Dr. Lloyd having sponsored several youth centered conferences, including; ââ?¬Å?Preventing Youth Violence Conferences, and Youth Achievement Pageantââ?¬, with the aim of focusing on the strengths and talents of our young people. Dr. Curly has devoted her career to the facilitation and maximizing of individual potential. She also teaches practical application and techniques in her ten step/five book modules, which includes: Spiritual Health, Mental Health, Physical Health, Financial Health and Nutritional Health.
