Corrine Risdon was born on October 10, 1910 in North Carolina. She married Arthur B. Risdon, from Panama. They became residents of Niagara Falls, New York and raised two sons there, Ernest and Algernon.
Corrine was an AHRC teacher and worked with students with disabilities. Her work as a teacher lead her to be involved in the work of the community. She was a charter member of the Niagara Falls (NY) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated. She left Niagara Falls in 2002 and lived the rest of her life in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit corporation, was established in 1946. Today the membership comprises nearly 14,000 professional women of color, in 289 Chapters in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and London, England.
The Niagara Falls (NY) Chapter, was chartered in 1950. Volunteer members, support service areas in: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services and Health and Human Services.
This volunteer service organization is committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the economic survival, health, well being and culture of African Americans and African Ancestry. Link members contribute more than 500,000 hours of community service annually--strengthening their communities. The organization's programs are implemented through strategies such as public information, education, health disparities initiatives, economic development and public policy.
