Cheryl Coleman Thomas was born in Buffalo, New York. She is a registered nurse at the New York State Department of Corrections.
She joined the Mary B. Talbert Civic and Cultural Club in 1998 were she serves as Assistant Recording Secretary and on various committees within the organization. She has held several positions within the Empire State Federation of Women's Clubs, Inc. including Chair of the Sunshine Committee and Historian of the Buffalo/Rochester Region.
Cheryl is an active member of St. John Baptist Church where she has been a member of the Radio Choir and the Nurses Guild. She was the coordinator of the Minority Multiple Sclerosis Support Group and is an active volunteer with the Lupus Foundation, the Kidney Foundation, and the American Diabetes Association.
She is also a retired Commissioned Officer from the U.S. Army Reserves.
