William Sinclair's father, also William, was first asked to be the personal aide for incoming New York Governor, Grover Cleveland. Mr. Sinclair declined the offer but suggested that Governor Cleveland offer the position to his son, who accepted. Mr. Sinclair was a steward for the Governor and accompanied him to the White House when he became United States President. He also served in the administration of President William McKinley. He died in Albany, New York and is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY.
