My name is Saida Gordon and I am currently a student at the University at Buffalo in my fifth year of undergrad. I am currently in the process of completing my undergraduate degree in Health and Human Service with a concentration in Early Childhood Education and a double major in Sociology. Throughout my undergrad experience I have had the opportunity to be actively involved in various student programs and organizations on campus including the Intercultural Diversity's S.A.G.E. Internship program and the Uncrowned Queens Institute. I was the former Secretary and President of Minority Management Society, a club associated with the undergraduate Student Association.
Through all of my various on campus experiences working with different clubs and organizations I find my internship with the Uncrowned Queens Institute the most rewarding. The program is not only a gateway to learning about the past but it creates cultural development and appreciation within the African American community in Buffalo, for the women, men and young men and women coming up. After graduation, I intend on furthering my studies in the field of Social Work and Education, with the pursuit of a Master of Social Work and Master of Education. My future goal is to create a community development center which implements programs and activities within my community to aid in the physical, emotional and mental development of today's youth.
