Ruthann Grey was born in Buffalo and lived here for her first 30 years. She attended School 17 and Lafayette High School . She graduated from State University College with a BS and MS in Education. She attended State University of New York at Buffalo and received a Ph.D in Higher Education Administration.
Ruthann's career has spanned the academic, corporate and non profit arenas. She began teaching at Bennett High School in 1966 and also taught at Erie Community College . In 1976 she left Buffalo and worked at Northern Virginia Community College and later for Wayne State University in Detroit Michigan.
In 1980, Ruthann moved to the private sector and spent twenty years in various positions. She was Director of Public Affairs at Burroughs Corporation in Detroit , MI ; Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board at Equitable Insurance and Marketing Manager at The New York Times in New York City; and Division Manager of Corporate Relations at Public Service Company of Colorado in Denver . She was recruited to return to the east coast and served as Vice President for Communications at Hoechst Celanese, a subsidiary of the German pharmaceutical and industrial company in Bridgewater, NJ. Later she became a strategic communications consultant and worked as Communications Chief for Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ. While working full-time, she also has taught graduate communication courses at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
Throughout her career, Ruthann has been an active member of various community organizations and has been involved in funding education and community projects in several cities as well as internationally. She has served on the boards of Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America, The Public Education Coalition and the Raritan Community College Foundation Board. She was appointed by the Governor of Colorado to the Colorado Commission on Children and Families and the Colorado Child Health Plan. She also served on the Denver Initiative on Families and Children, the Denver Public Schools Family Resource Schools Advisory Council, the Conference Board's Community and Public Issues Council and was Chairperson for the 1994 Women's International Economic Summit's Public Relations Committee in Denver . She is listed in the World's Who's Who in Women, Who's Who in America and the Who's Who in American Women.
Ruthann is the daughter of Rosalie and Wilson Evege. Her mother was an active and long-term member of Emmanuel Temple Church, a reporter for the Criterion , and one of the first African American real estate salespersons in Buffalo . Her dad was self employed.
She is married to Daine A. Grey, a psychologist and has one daughter, Nichole Suzanne Williams, an attorney and two stepsons, Daine Jr., an attorney and Keenan, a businessman, and has three grandchildren. She currently lives on a 4 Ã?½ acre farm in Readington , NJ and enjoys gardening.
