Lillian Estelle Hill Scott

Lillian Estelle Scott, the eldest of three, was born in Buffalo , New York on August 29, 1943 to James and Ella Hill. She married George W. Scott, Jr. on her 21 st birthday in August 1964. They had six children; Anita, George III, Angela, James, Clifford and Anthony. In the early years of her marriage, Lillian's primary interest was raising her family and then, for the next 42 years, she would dedicate herself to making many positive contributions to the Buffalo business community.
Lillian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication in 1979, from the State University of New York at Buffalo . Her professional career experiences include developing many businesses throughout the years and helping many young people develop employment and other life skills. She has contributed to training and employing over 100 students and helping other young people become entrepreneurs throughout the City of Buffalo .
Lillian worked as a Master Control Production Assistant at WUTV television station in Grand Island , New York during the 1970s. She owned and operated a Family Day Care Business for five years, was a direct sales representative for many products such as Shaklee, Tupperware, Avon and Mary Kay. Lillian owned and operated three boutique shops in Grand Island from 1974-1978. She also operated the Rosettes Catering Business from 1969-1980. In 1983 Lillian and her husband opened The Kensington Place Restaurant and serviced the Buffalo community for 20 years. Even with her busy schedule, Lillian found the time to be a foster parent for six months.
Lillian has received numerous awards and citations such as: National Association of Black Women, Profile in Business First Newspaper, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Business Award, 1984; Omega Psi Phi Woman of the Year, 1996; Alpha Kappa Alpha Economic Empowerment Award, 1992; Women's Issue Network, 1995; National Association 100 Black Women Citation; City of Buffalo Common Council Award, 1992; YMCA Century Club Award; Urban League Business Award; Afro-American Society, East Side Business Association; WNY Foster Care Association Volunteer, 1982; Women's Business Development Center and Savy Magazine Award. She also has been featured in three Buffalo News articles, reported by Carl Allen, Janice Okun and Don Esmond.
Her special interests include reading, counseling, tutoring, teaching life skills to youth, collecting pottery, brass, crystal and different kinds of art. She also enjoys making floral arrangements and catering. Lillian has special skills in decorating and event planning in a social atmosphere.
Lillian is currently opening a Gallery of Arts, Books and Collectibles. She plans to provide a talk show and youth support and opportunity to become masterful through wisdom and education. The Gallery also teaches young people to become self-sufficient and law-abiding citizens. Lillian's favorite religious speaker is Dr. Fred Price in Crenshaw, California .
