Jason Ivey

He was born in Buffalo, NY. He later died on 9-29-1990.

Jason Ivy was a professional boxer who trained with Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns and was a contender for the lightweight championship. He was born in Buffalo, NY where he attended St. Nicholas School and Bennett High School before his family moved to Detroit, Michigan. He began boxing at age 9. He learned his basic skills from famed Buffalo trainer Johnny Green. Under Green's tutelage, Ivey won 209 amateur bouts in Golden Gloves competition. He was the first Golden Gloves champ to win in his weight class for four consecutive years. At 18, he turned professional and left Buffalo to train at the Kronk Gym in Detroit under Emanuel Steward. His record as a lightweight was 21 wins and 2 losses. He left Detroit in 1988 to return to Buffalo and continued his career under Daryl Graham's Creation 1 in Buffalo.

Jason died suddenly in Niagara Falls, NY at the age of 26 on September 29, 1990. He is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
