Huncles "Sonny" Means
Born on 1-22-1936. He was born in Plateau, AL. He was accomplished in the area of Community. He later died on 1-18-2014.

Born in Plateau, Alabama, Sonny moved to Buffalo, New York with his new wife Virgie in the Mid-1950s. A hard-working man, Sonny was employed as a laborer at the General Motors Central Foundry in the Town of Tonawanda, where he rose to the rank of foreman and retired after twenty-five years of service.
In addition to his years at General Motors, Sonny was deeply involved in his community. A devoted spiritual leader, Sonny worshiped at the New Mount Ararat Temple of Prayer on Jefferson Ave. He hosted Gospel Community Hour on Time-Warner Cable T.V., where he shared his spirituality and knowledge with a devoted audience who looked forward to his show.
Sonny exhibited impressive athleticism and a passion for sports. A collegiate athlete, he attended Grambling State University in Grambling, Louisiana, where he was a member of their football team. He shared his love of sports with family, friends, and the community.
His grandson, Steven Means Jr., plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League.
Sonny was a regular contributor to the Buffalo Challenger weekly newspaper, writing the column "Sports Scenes with Sonny Means." His sports insights and commentary were heard regularly on WBLK-FM 93.7 and WUFO-AM 1080, where he delighted listeners with his wit and knowledge. In the 1970s. Sonny combined his love of helping others and experience in sports as assistant football coach at East High School. Known for his generous heart, Sonny was a regular volunteer for community organizations such as the William-Emslie YMCA, Community Action Organization, Little League football and baseball. He dropped off doughnuts at Senior Centers and Community Centers along Jefferson Avenue, always bringing a smile to those in need.
Above all, Sonny was a proud family man. He had three children, Agnes, Linda, and Steven Means; five grandchildren, Tomika Nicole Means (deceased), Chanel Hutcherson, Steven Means Jr., Brandon Means, and Cameron Means; five great-grandchildren, Kenyon Edwards-Means, Jaylen Edwards, Dorian Johnson, Tysheonna Daniel, and Cierra Daniel; and one great-great grandchild, A'Jayden Nicole Love Edwards.
