Evergreen Craig Salter
Born on 2-22-1932. She was born in Aldrich, AL. She was accomplished in the area of Business. She later died on 11-17-2012.

A native of Aldrich, Alabama, Evergreen Craig attended the Carlton Hill Baptist Church Elementary School and Bibb County Training School. In 1949, she married Willie L. Salter and relocated to Buffalo with her husband. Mrs. Salter continued her education at the Adult Learning Center and Buffalo State College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education. Mrs. Salter taught at various Buffalo Public Schools as a substitute teacher.
In 1987, she opened Craig and Craig Twin Bakery at 400 E. Utica Street with her twin sister Everleen Davis. At its peak, the women had four locations in Buffalo and were the recipients of the 2000 Taste of Buffalo's Best Dessert Award for their sweet potato pie. Mrs. Salter was also part owner of the Salter Brothers Deli on Fillmore Avenue.
Mrs. Salter was an active and dedicated Catholic, who worked to develop the first Early Push Program in this area at St. Nicholas School, where she was appointed president. Mrs. Salter worked bingo at St. Vincent de Paul Parish and was active with the PTA there and at Archbishop Carroll High School. She taught handicapped young adults to bowl and taught an adult sewing class. She was a member of the Buffalo City Planning Board and of the Greater East Side BusinessmenÃ?¢ââ??¬ââ??¢s Association.
Her husband died in 2000. She is survived by a daughter, Alicia Holmes; a son, Craig; six sisters, Everleen Davis, Aubanese Poole, Hattie Hunt, Ivy Salter, Mary Rutledge and Bertha Cottingham; and a brother, Darryle Melton.
