Mr. Darrell Marion Saxon II

Darrell M. Saxon II is known throughout the country as Western New York's premier funeral director who is at the helm of Buffalo's historic Thomas T. Edwards Funeral Home. Mr. Saxon joined the funeral home staff in 1997 and was promoted to Assistant Manager in 1999. In 2006 he was appointed Manager and has since carried on the standard of superior service that established the funeral home as the leader in Buffalo's African American community.


On June 27, 2018, Mr. Saxon, acquired the business from an out-of- state firm that had purchased the business in 1997.


Mr. Saxon attended Buffalo's St. Ann's Parochial School and graduated from Seneca Vocational High School. He earned his Degree in Mortuary Science in 1994 from the Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science and, after completing his apprenticeship, became a New York State Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in 1996. Serving people with a spirit of compassion is at the heart of Mr. Saxon's calling to funeral home services.


A lifelong member and active servant of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, he has held several leadership positions including Church School Assistant Superintendent, Worship Leader, member of the Board of Deacons and member of the Board of Trustees. He also serves as Vice President at Large of the Laymen's Auxiliary of the Great Lakes Baptist Association and is a member of the Empire State Missionary Baptist Church Convention.


Mr. Saxon is a 33rd Degree Mason and member of the St. John's Lodge #16 Prince Hall Free & Accepted Masons and Bison Consistory #29 Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Free Masons Prince Hall Affiliation. He is actively involved in his community through his memberships in the Buffalo Branch NAACP and the Buffalo Urban League, and his professional affiliations include the New York State Funeral Directors' Association and the Erie-Niagara Funeral Directors' Association.


Mr. Saxon resides in Buffalo with his wife Karen Elaine Saxon and their children Nathalie Vanice, Christnell Jeannette and Karrengton Edward.
