Chonita Robinson Spencer EdD

Dr. Chonita A. Robinson Spencer was the oldest daughter of Sam and Ann Robinson. Born, December 29, 1950, she grew up and graduated from the public schools of Niagara Falls, NY.
Chonita's parents encouraged extra-curricular activities, the arts, and the love for animals. She enjoyed the piano and violin, tap, modern jazz, African dancing, and sports activities and organized clubs. She played in the school played in the school orchestra and enjoyed her pet animals.
A Baptist, Chonita was a member and baptized in New Hope Baptist Church. She later became a member of the newly chartered Mount Zion Baptist Church, both of Niagara Falls, NY.
A graduate of Keuka College, Niagara University, Central Michigan University, Rutgers University, and New Brunswick Theological Seminary and over the course of a 43-year tenure as a professional educator and licensed counselor, Dr. Spencer has guided many students to post-secondary career endeavors. As an adjunct at Rutgers University, Graduate School of Education, Dept. of Educational Psychology, Chonita designed courses for School Counseling state certification for Rutgers, to satisfy New Jersey School Counseling licensure and certification for students seeking counseling positions, k-post secondary.
As the United Nations Association of New York's Chair of Education, Chonita is the 2016 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for Extraordinary Dedication and Service for promoting International Ideals and world goals. Through her leadership and the support of UNA-NY, students see and realize opportunities for global careers, leadership, and service. Chonita will chair UNA-NY first science, technology, engineering, and math (S.T.E.M.) diversity conference, March 2019, at SUNY. She works to promote the Sustainable Development Goals as board director for both UNA-NY and the Department of Public Information.
Chonita retired in 2017, having been a school administrator in Rochelle, Newark, and New Brunswick, NJ, and an educator in Niagara Falls, NY. Mainstreaming for equality of educational, social, and career opportunities was her passion for disenfranchised and marginalized children.
Chonita Spencer is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Links, Incorporated, professional organizations she has dedicated a life time of service.
Dr. Spencer is the mother of the late John H. Spencer, III.
Chonita cherishes her childhood years, parents, family, friends, and experiences as 'a memorable yesterday for a thankful today! "Mom and Dad are still my biggest role models".
