Almeda Combs Parker was born in Okfuskee County on John Grayson's ranch to Albert and Hattie Grayson Combs. Albert was a conductor on the Fort Smith and Western railroad line. Hattie Grayson Combs was a school teacher at Grassylake School.
Currently professor emeritus in the School of Business, Almeda Combs Parker earned the Bachelor of Science degree from Langston University and the Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California, with additional graduate work at the University of Denver, New York University, Sarah Lawrence College, Oklahoma State University, and Texas Technological University. During Parker's tenure at Langston University from 1940 to 1983, she was recognized as a career educator encouraging and motivating students to strive fro the highest accomplishments. She also received honors as a Danforth Fellow and a Gregg Letter Evaluation Awardee.
Parker is listed as an outstanding Educator of America and holds membership in the National Business Education Association. Her involvement in civic affairs included membership on the Board of the U.S. Civil Service Commission, past secretary of the Langston University National Alumni Association, charter member and current secretary for the Board of the Langston University Development Foundation, secretary of the Langston/Coyle Business and Professional Women's Club, secretary of the Langston University Alumni Chapter, vice president of the Guthrie Lioness Club, treasurer of the Langston Economic Development Foundation, and a member of the Decagyn Federated Club.
Parker is also a member of the Mountain-Plains Business Education Association, the Higher Education Alumni Association, the University Of Southern California Education Association, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a member of Langston Holy Family Episcopal Church. Ms. Parker co-authored a college typewriting text book published by Pitman Publishing Company. She also assisted 18 relatives in getting a BS degree from Langston University. She is listed in Outstanding Educators of America and Personalities of the Service.
