Mrs. Lee was active politically in Buffalo following World War II. She started her political career as an election inspector in the 5th District of the 5th Ward. She organized and was president of the Tri-Ward Republican Women's Club and was a member of the Oscar DePriest Republican League. In September of 1952, Mrs. Lee was appointed as Assistant Secretary in the office of Congressman Edmund T. Radwan of the 43rd Congressional District.
Among her other activities, Mrs. Lee was Daughter Ruler of Emma V. Kelly Temple No. 700, IBPOE of W; past president of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary; past Most Noble Governess of Minnie L. Knight H.H. of Ruth and a past president of the Buffalo Bowling Senate and the Woodpecker's Women's Bowling League.
Mrs. Lee was described by the 1952 edition of the Buffalo Criterion as a woman who was "...in a position to make a real contribution to the re-election of Congressman Radwan. Her affable disposition should make her an asset in handling the Congressman's constituents in the office.
