Mr. Roosevelt "Punch" Woods
Born on 6-27-1916. He was born in Greensboro, Alabama. He later died on 12-17-2004.

Roosevelt Woods was born June 27, 1916. His parents were Charlie and Annie Woods. He was the youngest of 19 children. He met and married his wife Queen Esther Lavender in 1937. They moved in 1940 to Lackawanna, NY where he worked at Bethlehem Steel until he retired. He joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1942 and faithfully served there as a Deacon and Trustee.He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Buffalo and one of the odd jobs he held there was "Hot Tamale Man."
He received numerous awards including from the City of Buffalo and the Common Council where on the Council proclaimed June 26, 1988 as "Woods Day."
