Patricia Elaine Adderley Clark

Patricia Elaine Adderley was born in Pembroke, West Bermuda. In 1954, her mother and stepfather moved to the United States. She later traveled with her Air Force family to Japan where she graduated from Johnson High School in June 1960. The family moved to Plattsburgh Air Force Base where Pat graduated from the Our Lady of Victory Secretarial School.

Ms. Clark has encompassed a tremendous amount of strength, versatility, and independence - qualities instilled by her mother, Thelma Batts.

In 1961, Patricia married a native of Buffalo and traveled to France where her former husband served with the Air Force from 1961 through 1963. They are the parents of DeAnna Elaine, Devon Keith, and Jaye Allyn Clark. Patricia and her family are members of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior where she served on the Deacon Board (Secretary), Board for Christian Education, Scholarship Committee, and Memorial Fund Board of Directors (Chair).

After two years at the Bryant and Stratton Women in Business Institute, where Patricia gained an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Management, she enrolled in Medaille College's Business program. During this time, she was employed by Assemblyman Arthur O. Eve at the Urban Revitalization Task Force. Patricia was instrumental in the business training and educational advisement of a number of students from the Educational Opportunity Center, St. Augustine Center's Youth Enrichment Program, Erie Community College's Youth Internship Program, and the University at Buffalo's Applied Public Affairs Program.

In July 1986 after completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration at Medaille College, Patricia was employed at the University at Buffalo as a college preparatory program student counselor. After a year and a half, she was promoted to Director of the Science and Technology Enrichment Program (STEP) and the Structured Educational Support Program (SESP), and later Associate Director for the Office for University Preparatory Program (OUPP) in September 1991. Ms. Clark has amassed twenty years of experience in budget management and counseling at the local and state level of public and private sectors. While employed by the University, Patricia completed a Master's Degree in Education.

Director Clark has received many awards for her services to the community including the Buffalo Engineering Awareness for Minorities (BEAM); Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Social Action Award; University at Buffalo, Chapter NSBE, Honorary Member Award and Support and Dedication Award; UB Upward Bound Program, Personal Service Award; and the Science and Technology Enrichment Program (STEP) Parents Association, Outstanding Dedication and Years of Service Award. Ms. Clark received corporate and national recognition in the May edition of the National Society of Black Engineers Magazine (Volume 6, Number 5) for "Selflessly participating in the endeavors of the society." In addition, the Buffalo Common Council proclaimed June 7, 1992, "Patricia E. Clark Day."

She served as an Internship Supervisor for Cora P. Maloney College's Community Services Internship Program; Instructor for ULC 101; a Certified Field Educator at the School of Social Work; and Grant Writer for the University at Buffalo. Ms. Clark was an outstanding guest speaker for numerous organizations. Some of her presentations include: Deputy Speaker Speaks, WBFO Radio and Channel 18 television; STEP/CSTEP at the New York State Education Budget Hearing, Leadership Conference; An Education Success Story, SUNY Institute of Technology-Symposium on Student Learning; SED Science and Technology Entry Program, Best Practices Conference, Developing Successful Parent Advisory Groups; UB's Minority Management Society; the Center for Academic Development Services; and the STARS 96 Conference, Students Technology Assessment Resulting in Success. She also is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Buffalo Alumnae Chapter.

Patricia's professional objectives are to be instrumental in educational administration, particularly in policy and program development, as well as implementation and analysis, and to have a significant impact on the education of minorities, women, and disadvantaged populations.
