Ollie M. Smitherman was the daughter of Reuben and Nellie Murphy of Servier, County Arkansas. Reuben was the son of Gideon Henry Murphy and Deliah. Gideon was documented in the will of Captain John Harpole in 1820. Later, in 1841 Arkansas, Gideon and Deliah were documented in the will of John W. Murphy, son-in-law of Captain John Harpole.
