Naomi Johnson is a vocalist who spans the generation gap. She chooses music and lyrics-that are both current and classic-that are relevant today and celebrate our musical treasures. As a performer, she is as warm and vibrant as her mellow alto tones.
She is a native of Boston Massachusetts, but considers herself a New Yorker and in particular, a Brooklynite. She has sung professionally for over 40 years throughout the tri-state area as well as Boston, Cleveland and Chicago. Her Brooklyn appearances include Two Steps Down Restaurant, Up Over Jazz CafÃ?©, 200 Fifth Avenue, Roystonââ?¬â?¢s Rhythmââ?¬â?¢s to name a few. She also performed for Brooklyn Cable Access Televisionââ?¬â?¢s New Embers.
Naomi has most recently appeared as a Macyââ?¬â?¢s Bras spokesperson, Stand Up to Cancer photo shoot and Amnesty International Video. She has also appeared in Essence Magazine Christmas issue, Health Quest Magazine along with television commercials for Eldercare, Tiger Toys, Flexon Sun Glasses and Linens and Things. Her look is as timeless and sophisticated as her voice is inviting.
She has been a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Anthony L. Trufant, Pastor for over 30 years and served on the Board of Trustees and the Emmanuel Day Care Kindergarten Board. Her love has always been the Music Ministry of Emmanuel and she is especially proud to be a member of the gifted Choir, Total Praise. She is also one of the Founders and a former member of the Brooklyn Contemporary Chorus. Naomi is active in her community and serves on the Board of Directors of Northeast Brooklyn Housing Development Corporation.
Naomi has worked for Pratt Institute Center for Community and Environmental Development (PICCED) for 20 years. She is a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
