Lesthia Isaacs is a senior at City Honors School, aspiring for a future in medicine. At City Honors, she participates in several different activities including: Amnesty International, Students for Organ Donation Awareness Club, and Orchestra. As a violinist, she has been able to perform at several venues, including: Kleinhans Music Hall, Shea's Performing Arts Center, and City Hall. Her academic achievements allowed her to be featured in the 2006-2007 edition of Who's Who Among American High School Students. Lesthia has also been a participant of the University at Buffalo Biomedical STEP Program for four years and for two years, Lesthia has been involved with the Buffalo Prep Program participating in their Rising To Distinction component. Active in her church community, she is a member of the church choir and a volunteer in the children's ministry.
In the summer of 2007, she participated in a Summer Research Program at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Lesthia was able to work in a laboratory with doctors and interns. During the eight week program, she worked on a project to find out whether or not fever stimulated the immune system, and if raised body temperature boosted the power of an anti-cancer vaccine. This project was presented and featured in the 2008 Winter Issue of Roswellness Magazine.
She is a dedicated worker who strives for excellence.
