Johnnie Hunter was a Gospel musician known as the "Harmonica King". He was born in Clarksdale, Mississippi and moved to Buffalo, NY in the early 1950s where he worked for Westinghouse Corporation. He was a dedicated churchman and an accomplished self-taught musician. He played several instruments by ear. In addition to the harmonica he accompanied many church groups on guitar and traveled with evangelists. Johnnie Hunter died at the age of 68 years of age on May 26, 1995. He is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
