Jeanette Staton Morgan

Jeanette D. Morgan is a native of Roxboro, NC and was born on December 9, 1943 to the late Elvana and Bennie Staton. She moved with her family to the Buffalo area at a young age, and was educated in the Buffalo Public School system.

In 1968, Jeanette married Floyd M. Morgan of Dinwiddie County, VA. She has 3 children, April Carter-Hutson, Renee Simone Carter and Carlton M. Morgan. She has 2 grandchildren who truly light up her life, Carishia M. Morgan and Aidan Lawson Hutson.

Jeanette graduated from Bennett High School and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business from Medaille College, where she was a member of the honor society. She is employed at Tripifoods, Inc as Executive Administrative Assistant to the VP of Sales.

As a member of Faith Baptist Church she has served on various auxiliaries and committees over the years, including the Usher Board. She has been a member of the Mary B. Talbert Civic and Cultural Club since 1999 serving as Recording Secretary, Journal Chair, Financial Secretary, and Chair of the Annual Scholarship Banquet.

Jeanette is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Epsilon Omega Chapter where she has been the co-chair of the Founder's Day Celebrations and member of several committees.

Along with her volunteer activities in the Buffalo community, Jeanette frequently travels to Washington to support her daughters in their quest for women's rights. She participated in the march for legislation concerning the pro-choice laws and for breast cancer awareness. She has been a volunteer for Women for Human Rights and Dignity. She has also held memberships in employee ad-hoc action teams and committees that were formed to improve the plight of minority employees in the workplace. She has participated in the Harvard University Black Women's study, which tracks the stress that causes many of the diseases impacting black women. She is a member of the Nar-Pro committee that supports a woman's right to choose and the American Association of University Women, an organization that champions education, civil rights, child care reform, and health care for all women.

Jeannette has also been an active club woman with memberships in the Buffalo Region of Federated Women's Clubs; the National Association of Colored Women's Clubs, Inc.; the Empire State Federation of Women's Clubs, Inc.; the Northeast Federation of Women's Clubs, Inc. She is also affiliated with the American Red Cross, Rare Blood Donors.
