Gertrude Cheatham Williamson

Trudy was born August 22, 1932 in New Orleans, LA, the only child of Chester and Julia (Ireland) Cheatham.
She attended school in Natchez, MS and relocated to Niagara Falls, NY, with her mother in 1943.Trudy was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School (1952), and married the "love of her life" Theodore D. Williamson Sr. March 29, 1952. Together they partnered, along with Ted's father Joseph Sr., and opened the WILLIAMSON FUNERAL HOME March 17, 1960.
Mrs. Williamson later took her love for people into community service through various civic and community agencies, including NIA-CAP, NAACP, Niagara Community Center, Niagara County Girl Scouts, Family and Children Services, along with the YWCA and Niagara Falls Chapter, the L.I.N.K.S., where she was a past president.
She had employment with Niagara Falls Board of Education as a home school partner and later at the former Beir's Department Store and The Wearhouse in the Prime Outlet Mall, where she was able to keep in touch with many of her friends throughout the Western NY area. In keeping with her love of people, Mrs. Williamson was also a foster mother to countless children. Trudy was a 50-year member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where she served as Deaconess and various other auxiliaries.
