Frank B. Mesiah

Born on 7-18-1928. He was born in Buffalo, NY. He was accomplished in the area of Community. He later died on 4-27-2018.

Frank B. Mesiah is the President of the Buffalo Branch NAACP. He also serves as First-Vice-President of the New York State Conference of NAACP Branches, of which Hazel N. Dukes is President.

Mesiah retired as Regional Administrator in the Division of Equal Opportunity Development of the New York State Department of Labor. Following retirement, he conducted workshops on Sexual Harassment Prevention, Managing Diversity, the Americans with disabilities Act and general Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action, (EEO/AA) programs.

Mesiah worked for several years as a part time instructor at Canisius College (teaching a graduate course in Managing Diversity) and part-time with Cornell University Buffalo Labor Studies Program, teaching Managing Diversity, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and general EEO/AA courses. Mesiah was also the host of, "The NAACP Speaks" every other Thursday from 11 AM to 12 noon on radio station WUFO, 1080 AM.

He has extensive community service, in addition to his work with the local and State NAACP, he also served in the following capacities: Board member of the Afro-American Historical Association of the Niagara Frontier -- this organization was founded in 1977 to preserve and disseminate state and regional African American history. Mesiah was one of 5 founding members.

He also served as the Secretary to the Black Leadership Forum; Member of the Board of managers of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical society; Board member of the Buffalo Economic Renaissance Corporation; Executive Committee of the Erie County Industrial Development Agency; Board Member of the Health Now, Inc.; Board Member of Legal Aid of Buffalo; Board member of the Greater Buffalo YMCA; Member of the Near East Side Health Task Force; Member of Project Exile (Good Neighbors); Board Member of FBI Citizens Academy Foundation.
