Faith Prather is the eldest of three daughters of the late Marvin and Ethel Prather. Faith is a native of Buffalo, New York, who currently makes her residence in Rochester, New York. Faith is an associate professor in the Masterââ?¬â?¢s program of the Department of Public Administration at SUNY Brockport and has been a member of the Brockport faculty since 1989. Her Masterââ?¬â?¢s and Doctorate degrees are in Counselor Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Before coming to Brockport, Faith earned statewide recognition for developing innovative management training programs for public sector administrators. Dr. Prather teaches graduate courses in Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management and Negotiation Skills to experienced administrators, as well as adult students who aspire to leadership positions in public service. She is recognized by the college administration, her colleagues and students alike, for her dedication to student success. Graduate students praise her for ââ?¬Å?helping them to excel and to meet her high standardsââ?¬. Dr. Prather has also served as the Collegeââ?¬â?¢s Director of Affirmative Action and is the co-founder of the Collegeââ?¬â?¢s Womenââ?¬â?¢s Center, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in May 2005.

An extensively published author, Dr. Prather has focused her scholarship efforts on women as leaders, as well as issues in teaching effectiveness. She is co-author of a three volume training module for public administrators, which has served as template for management training in human services since 1987. Another significant contribution to public administration research includes a recently published monograph for the federal government on drug courts as a viable alternative to incarceration. Currently, Dr. Prather has been asked to contribute her views on dealing with race relations in the workplace that will be published in a textbook for students in health care administration.

Over the past decade, Dr. Prather has conducted numerous seminars and workshops on communication, leadership and the special issues women face as managers. Her most recent workshops have focused on helping professionals improve their writing skills. Locally, Dr. Prather has been actively involved in delivering management workshops to the African American Leadership Program of the United Way.

Dr. Prather is a member of the Board of the Family Resource Center in Rochester. She also is a member of The Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, an educational honorary organization for women educators. She was a charter member of the Gamma Eta Chapter, the local affiliate of the Society, and has served in several officer positions. She was the chair of the Bylaws and Rules Committee of the Pi State Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and is the Chair of the Professional Affairs Committee of Alpha Xi Chapter.
