My name is Elizabeth Graham, originally residing in New York City I am currently in my senior year at the University at Buffalo (UB). This last year at UB has been a very rewarding experience due to the new internships and network experiences that I have made. Since the fall semester of 2009, I have been a member of the SAGE Internship Program for the Intercultural & Diversity Center at UB. Under the advisement of Tiffany E. Fowler and staff, this program is offered to a diverse group of outstanding UB undergraduate students who demonstrate that they have overcome a disadvantage or impediment to success in higher education to pursue graduate studies, to encourage them to enter a career in Higher Education or another specific career field. Currently I am interning with the Uncrowned Queens Institute, a non-profit organization that has a partnership with the Library Sciences department at UB. With graduation looming in May, I can say that interning through the SAGE Program has helped me to further explore my future career goals and gain professional experience by working with the Uncrowned Queens Institute on development of the Digital Kiosk Literacy project.

After graduation, I plan to attend graduate school at a prominent institution to obtain a Masters degree in Computer Graphic Design. Some schools that I am currently considering are NYIT and NYU Polytechnic Institute. In my four years here at UB, I have managed to work very hard, finding my professional passion in the world of computer technology and I am very proud to say that I will be receiving two Bachelor Degrees in Communication and Informatics. While interning at Uncrowned Queens, I have learned a lot about the skills needed with the IT world and have met some very successful and established individuals who have an immense knowledge base within their respective career fields. In closing, I would like to thank Dr. Barbara Seals Nevergold and Dr. Peggy Brooks-Bertram for giving me the opportunity to be affiliated with such an empowering organization that helps to commend individuals across all walks of life, who deserve recognition.
