Carol Hoskins Adams brings more than 35 years of experience as an Educator to her position as Dean of Interdisciplinary Programs at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. As a college administrator and Dean, she provides the leadership for several academic programs, services, and departments such as Foreign Languages/ESOL, Transitional Studies, School to College Alliances and the campus Academic Support Services, including the Writing and Tutoring Centers as well as the Writing Across the Curriculum program. She has spearheaded the Teacher Preparation initiative at Monroe Community College. Working in conjunction with the College's Teacher Preparation Advisory Council, she has forged the creation of the Teacher Preparation office as well as three new degree programs and services for future teachers.
In addition, Carol Hoskins Adams has chaired the College's Faculty Orientation Committee where she led the Faculty Development Seminar Series for several years. She has presented at national conferences for the League for Innovation, the National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development, the Community College Humanities Association and the National Association of Developmental Education. As part of her professional development, she has completed the Cornell University, Academic Leadership Program through the Institute for Community College Development in their Department of Education in Ithaca, New York.
Carol received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service, the Rochester City School District's Women's History Month Award, MCC Most Distinguished Professor's Award for Professional Services and the American Association of Women in Community and Junior College's Award for the National Institute of Leadership Development.
In the community, Carol has served on the United Way's African American Leadership Development Steering Committee, the University of Rochester's Advisory Board for the Youth and Family Project, the YWCA's Board of Directors, and is currently serving on Planned Parenthood's Rochester, Syracuse Regional Board of Directors.
Carol Hoskins Adams holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Michigan State University and a Master of Science degree from Queens College, City University of New York.
