Authur E. Williams

He was born in Woodbine, FL. He later died on 7-21-1992.

Arthur E. Williams was a retired crane operator and a well-known amateur golfer in Western New York golf circles. He was born in Woodbine, Georgia and grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida where, as a youngster he developed a love for golf. He worked as a caddy and when he did not have enough money to buy golf balls he told friends he would use rounded rocks in place of the real thing. At the age of 71, when he retired from Worthington Pump, he won his ninth Worthington Pump Championship tournament winning with a two over par 73. During this tournament, he also recorded his third career hole in one. He won many honors and tournaments during his lifetime. Once he shot a 65 at Grover Cleveland Course. He was a member of the Golden Tee Club. Mr. Williams was 83 years old at the time of his death on July 21, 1992 and is buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
