04/28/2019 - Uncrowned Queens Institute Observes Second Decade Milestone

In 2019 the Uncrowned Queens Institute for Research & Education on Women, Inc. is observing nearly two decades as the premier online organization dedicated to the mission of researching, documenting and preserving the regional histories of African American women and men in Western New York and across this nation. All year we have planned and initiated a series of events to commemorate this milestone and add to our historical archives. We also look back at some of our accomplishments and contributions, the foundation of our work.

On May 9th, join us for an exciting panel discussion by contributors to our award winning book, Go, Tell Michelle Obama: African American Women Write to the New First Lady." A decade later, what do the message to our first African American First Lady say about the role and important voice of African American women in the political, civic and social issues then and now?

May 9th, 6pm at the Buffalo History Museum. Co-sponsored by Hon. April Baskin, WUFO Radio, Just Buffalo Literary, the Afro-American Cultural Center and the Buffalo History Museum. Free and open to the public.
